Teen Read Week Oct 17 - 24 Read Beyond Reality
(All Patrons 12-17 Invited)

Comic Book Workshop: Saturday, Oct. 17, 1-3 pm
Have you ever wanted to create your own comic book hero or villain? We'll teach you how to creat your very own comic book superhero, complete with powers, backstory, and legendary nemesis! You'll be able to discuss and present your ideas to each other, and learn a little about comic book history and lore. We'll have free refreshments, giveaways and door prizes.

Students at the Center Reading and Discussion: Tuesday, October 20, 7-9 pm
Graduates of Students at the Center along with current high school participants will lead a presentation on literacy, reading, writing and publishing for a teen audience.

Capoeira Demonstration: Wednesday, October 21, 1-2 pm
Learn about this beautiful ancient martial art form, a combination of acrobatics, dance and music that was developed by African slaves in Brazil. Live demonstration.

Teen Book Day: Thursday, October 22, all day!
Teens can present their current NOPL library card, or apply for a new one and receive a FREE Young Adult book.

Sci-Fi Workshop Reading: Saturday, October 24, 2-4 pm
Teens read sci-fi stories they've written themselves. Free refreshments will be served.
